I have a humax drt400 that I used instantcake to prepare a 250g hdd. Everything went well. Installed in the tivo and it booted and works good but the remote control now randomly will either not respond to keypad punches or records several when only pressed once. I have already tried new batteries, other tivo remotes (I have 3 available) resetting the remote codes, taking all batteries out of all the other remotes to eliminate other sources of rf interference. I even prepared a 2nd hdd and that did the same thing. Put the original hdd back in the tivo and the remote works like normal. What could be causing this?

If your original disk still works, you could try to use that to put the TiVo software on your new drive. You can find instructions at Weaknees.com, ptvupgrade.com, or just Google on tivo upgrade.

If that works, then you should contact ptvupgrade and let them know you got a bad image, and see if they'll make it right.

Well, whatever the problem was with the instantcake software version it installed, thankfully has been resolved by updating the tivo with the latest service release. The remote has been working good again.
