Yesterday I attempted to upgrade my 80 gig drive (which was getting very noisy) to a 250 GB drive. I followed the instructions explicity and at the end, it stated that I now had a new 380 hour drive. The problem is that neither the old drive or the new drive will work in the Tivo unit. The unit displays Powering Up and that is it - it goes no farther.
Does anyone know where I can obtain the Tivo software and are there instructions on how to install it on the drive? I have the MFS tools CD that I used for the Upgrade. I have no idea what might have gone wrong other than the possibility of a drive jumper being incorrect on the new drive.
HELP! HELP! HELP! and thank you in advance!

My guess is that the drive might have got booted to Windows XP and that corrupted your original drive (image).
Go to www.dvrupgrade.com and buy the correct version of InstantCake for your system. It's the fastest way to upgade (don't need to know any linux) and only costs $20.
Edit: There are instructions on each step of the InstantCake process to help you along.

The drive definitely did not get booted to Windows XP. I had both of my Windows hard drives disconnected as I was using the connections for the upgrade. What I really need to know is where to find the Tivo software and how to install it on the drive. Unfortunately buying an upgrade program will not help if there is no software on either drive, which is what I suspect has happened.

Did you put the jumpers back to where they belong?

Instant Cake is the software image. When you run instant cake, the TiVo operating will be installed on your hard drive that you will be using for TiVo.
There are some other free alternatives to obtain the image. I believe there is a forum member who has images for almost any TiVo. I do not know his user name (it escapes me right now). Maybe someone will chime in with who you can contact.
Also, check the upgrade forum for more info, or the dvrupgrade web site mentioned earlier on how to install the instant cake. I used instant cake about a year ago, and it ran flawlessly.
