Leapfrog Remote and TiVo Series 2

Bear with me on this one. I'm trying to work around an issue I'm having with my IR/RF remote and base station (MX-600 and MRF100) overloading TiVo's IR sensor. I was thinking about trying the following:

Move the MRF-100 away from my equipment cabinet, but still close enough to use the IR extender cables. Point one of the extender cables at the Leapfrog receiver and then use the Leapfrog transmitter's extender cable to point the IR signal to my TiVo. From what I've read, it seems that Leapfrog does not cause the overloading issue with TiVo that the MX-600 does. So in essence, I'm using the Leapfrog system to "filter out" the problem. I've already tried blocking the TiVo IR sensor in an attempt to fix the IR overload issue, but was not successful with that approach.

The MX-600/MRF100 combo works perfectly otherwise. And with this setup I can still use the MX-600 from other rooms without having to point my remote at the Leapfrog receiver.

Is this idea completely crazy? Will there be frequency conflicts? Any thoughts?

I guess this would be a Leap-Leapfrog system.

Your mx-600 would probably communicate directly with leapfrog receiver. So no need for the mrf-100.

Hmmm. But isn't the Leapfrog receiver a line-of-site unit? I can use the MX-600 from another room if it's talking to the MRF100.

Success! A modified version of my Leapfrog idea has solved my problem. I did not need to use the Leapfrog transmitter (it conflicted with the MRF-100 anyway). The Leapfrog receiver is able to receive RF signals directly from my MX-600. And the Leapfrog IR extender cable puts out a signal level that does not freak out my TiVo.

I can finally control my TiVo, as well as all my other components, without having to point my remote directly at the equipment rack. Only took 6 months to find a workable solution - but it's finally over. Off to watch TiVo.
