Just bought a 'factory-renewed' Series 2 Dual Tuner - 80 hour. Got it home today & ran through guided setup, got some data, etc..
The 500 gig hard drive (Hitachi DeskStar ultra 133) also came in today and was begging me to install it. So, I used Hinsdale's HowTo and did an upgrade from the 80 gig to the 500 gig (kept the recordings cause i hadn't yet watched those intro videos) - took about an hour -ish.
Get everything back together, messing around in the menus, and I go to TivoCast.
System freezes.. :(
I think "that's odd.. I was just in TivoCast before the upgrade".
Power cycle the system, everything seems okay.. About an hour or so later, system restarts on it's own, and comes up to the "serious error" / green screen.
:(
I had checked the temp on the system information page before this happened - when I checked it said 50c (normal).
So I guess my question is - what's the most likely culprit here? Is it more likely the factory-renewed system, the brand new drive, or something that went awry with the upgrade?
If I'm still getting problems tomorrow, I'll put back in the original 80 gig and see if the problems go away.
Any heat issues with S2 and current generation drives? I remember with my Series 1 I had to get 5400rpm drives so they wouldn't overheat the system.
