I just recently looked at my Tivo's disk space (using TivoWeb's "info" menu) and got a disturbing amount for my disk space data:
Space Used - 103695 MB
Expired Guide 6 4568 MB 4.4% 6:01:00

I have a 120GB Samsung HD and it has been running for a little over 3 years now. The TiVo had an uptime of over 280 days and I rebooted it just to see if there was any difference, to no avail. Is it a sign that my HD is slowly getting more and more bad blocks and should be replaced soon or am I reading the above wrong?
TIA

That's around 90% of each accounted for, compared to around 86% of your 120gb, but in both cases the difference is around 20gb less than the nominal drive capacity. Clearly, some space is used for the system partitions and swap, and all S1 TiVos reserve a bit of space - up to a max of 10gb IIRC - for promotional material, so I would say they're broadly comparable.
I certainly doubt whether your hard drive is 'shrinking' - although Pete77 probably has a theory about that, maybe something to do with Rupert Murdoch, the BBC or Ofcom... :p:D:D

They're reserving the space for more episodes of dossa and joe.... ;)

Well, 3 days later it is still reporting "Space Used - 103695 MB".
However, from Tivo Central -> Messages & Setup -> System Information, the Recording Capacity is displayed as 0 hrs 29 mins for both Best and Basic Quality.
Any ideas why?

Hmmm, have you tried to upgrade to Mode 0 recently?

Nope. Have not made any changes to the TiVo in about one year...

I suspect this is related to the missing resources you mentioned in your other thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=347489).
You probably have some drive corruption which has affected the database leading to the missing resources and subsequent incorrect reporting of recording capacity based on calculations using invalid data.
Unfortunately, I doubt whether a simple "Delete guide data & ToDo list", or even "Clear and delete everything" will fix this, although it's obviously worth a try. (Note that "Delete guide data" will remove all your SPs.)
Failing that it could be time replace your drive. If it's starting to suffer corrupted sectors then its life is probably limited anyway.

Which is what I suspected from the beginning when I started looking into all this 4 days ago...
Do you know of a vendor in the UK that supplies HDs for UK TiVos with pre-loaded TivoWeb and TurboNet drivers?
TIA

Thanks Carl - I was wondering how to reply to that without breaking any forum rules ;):)

FYI, I ordered a 250GB disk from the first url on the above list. Asked a lot of questions before ordering and always got quick, informed, courteous answers.
