I just realized neither of my two Tivo Series-2 machines (one an original Tivo, the second a Humax brand) have not made a successful connection (since 3/26 for one of them, 3/20 for the other). I've shut down my router and tried several times to reconnect - both of them say 'Connection interrupted' after what seems like a really long time on the 'Downloading' step - it's about 10 minutes before it says that, and that's much longer than it's ever taken to connect with my broadband connection before. The connection test works fine - just not the actual connection to the Tivo service. I'm wondering if this could possibly be related to me trying unsuccessfully to download 2 movies from Amazon Unbox. Both times the recording history said 'Download speed too slow'.
I've also tried making each Tivo connect via the phone lines, which used to work fine before I switched to using the broadband connections. In both cases it does the 'Downloading' step for a long time (although I expect it to be long via phone call), and then says that the call was interrupted.
Now, I know Unbox isn't supposed to work with phone-line connections. But the reason I suspect Unbox to possibly be the problem is that 3/20 was the first day I tried to use it. Could it be that my movies are still in a download queue and the connection to the Tivo service is getting hung up somehow because of it?
