I have a Directivo Hughes SD DVR40 and I have a couple of questions:

1. There are USB ports on the back - Can I activate them and connect this DVR to my wireless network? If so how do I do it? Also if I can connect to my wireless network can I then get TivoToGo to work?

2. Can I convert this SD DVR to receive HD? If so how do I do it?

3. I just bought an HD Plasma screen and I really want to avoid the Directv HD DVR and still use Tivo, what are my options?

Thanks.

1. a)Yes lookup Zipper in the Underground.
b) T2G only works with SA units.

2. Nope

3. check out ebay for a HR10-250.

3: Get an HR10-250, but miss out on the MPG4/Ka band programming. Perhaps get an H-20 to add the channels it won't get, but without DVR functionality.
2: Get a standalone TiVo and an H20. Yuo will get all the chanels, but only one channel, and in SD through the TiVo.
3: Get an HR20, and give up TiVo.

What is MPG4/Ka band and what will I miss out on? Also if I hack the USB ports although I can't use T2G can I move files from one DVR to another if I get the HR10-250 as I would keep my current box and just move it to another room?

1. DirecTV's new Ka-band satellites at 99 and 103-deg W beam new HDTV channels. Right now that's primarily local HDTV channels to selected major US cities using "spot beams". But later this year 2 new Ka-band satellites will be activated to beam nationwide HDTV channels, greatly increase DirecTV's HD channel offering. Only the newer non-Tivo DVR (HR20) and Receiver (H20) can receive those MPEG4 channels. There's no way to modify an existing DVR to receive them.

2. Not sure I understand your question, but I think the answer is "yes".
