Modem Not Responding

I just noticed my guide data isn't up to the full 14 day limit so I checked and my last successful connection was on Thursday and each attempt since has failed. I tried forcing a connection but I got the message that the modem was not responding. I checked all of the wires and everything is tight. Is my modem dead? Is it fixable? Thanks for any help.

Nevermind, I unplugged the phone and power cords and it's working again after a restart. Out of curiosity now, if there was a problem with the modem, can it be replaced or can the Tivo just be hooked up to a network instead?

It's integrated into the motherboard, so it can't be replaced. although, it could possible be fixed. The network option is one of three other options. The others are using a ppp over serial connection and using an external modem.
