I'm just having a play with it now.

It's available here (this will take you straight to the download):http://ews2.uni-dortmund.de:8080/public/lecture/ews2serviceteam/public/Download/netdrive.exe

Basically, it lets you map an FTP site as a network drive, which is nice.

I'm able to navigate tivo through windows explorer, open and edit hacks with ultraedit by double clicking them, delete files, drag files into /var/hack from my PC. Extract gzip/tar files to tivo. I've just backed up my hack directory by right clicking and zipping it. It took a while (30 mins) but I suppose it was doing it over the network and I have no idea f this will be a functional backup - hope I don't have to find out as well.

I've connected to port 21 and port 3105, not gonna say anymore about that

I haven't checked this out, but it seems you can chmod files as well:

Just like windows explorer in XP already does then?

ftp://tivo

From there I can drap and drop files with no fuss.

I use SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/), which is free for personal use. Best I've seen.

It's great if you need to map a location as a drive. Useful for searching or doing other things that aren't natively supported by all FTP servers.

For regular FTPing, I use FileZilla. But netdrive has its place.
