Hi All,

I've recently swapped the PSU and upgraded a friends Tivo to a Samsung 250GB drive using Steve Conrad's upgrade notes and the mfstools2 large disk iso boot disk (it kept rebooting under the old PSU and standard 40GB drive). Unfortunately it now refuses to start up (although it has stopped rebooting) and just gets stuck on on the

Almost there.
A few more seconds please

Screen. Has anyone seen this before or could anyone suggest possible fixes?

Cheers...

Did you run copykern and use a large swap file size like -s 250?

Where did you get the image for the upgrade? If it was from the original rebooting drive then you may have copied some corruption over, causing this problem.

Have you tried the 250gb drive in another TiVo? Hanging at "almost there" can be caused by a blown modem.

Pete77: yes, and yes with -s 300

blindlemon: the image was from elsewhere. I might try and get hold of another one and try it with that...

So as blindlemon suggests perhaps the image you started from is no good/corrupt. Alternatively may be you used the wrong mfs command line(s).

Try following the large hard drive upgrade process exactly as described at www.steveconrad.co.uk/tivo
