Virgin and Sky into Tivo?

I am having to subscribe to Sky in addition to my current Virgin media tv package to regain access to SkyOne...

Can anyone tell me the best way to connect the two sources into the Tivo to avoid any difficulties?

The virgin STB currently goes into the Aux scart on the Tivo and there is nothing in the VCR scart (tv connected via the TV scart)

Firstly, why? Seems a bit silly to have both.

If you want to get out of your VM contract, you can call them by the end of today and they'll allow you to cancel. Or you could just drop your TV package and replace it with Sky.

The other point is that because both boxes use the SCART socket, I don't think you can have both systems like you can with Sky/Freeview.

I was happy with the ntl/Virgin service up till now and simply (?) wanted to regain access to Sky one...

I did negotiate a better price with Virgin which allowed me to keep things as they are, subscribe to the Sky basic package and save money. However I've run into this technical hitch.

I've looked at switchable scart splitters but the problem of both units being on normally for recording is proving a little tricky... might all end in tears...

I'll give you the long waffley answer:

Tivo dual source setup only allows one freeview and one of (sky or cable).
That's one part of tivo that could do with an update IMO for more flexibility.

There is no Cable + freeview option (though you can do this by pretending cable=sky and remapping chnanels), and there is no sky + cable option.

If you are happy using cable for freeview channels only, then you could
setup dual-source sky (f) and freeview (scart). Then remap the freeview channel numbers to cable numbers.

Channel mapping is very messy though, and has to be redone when you get a lineup change...

Two Tivo's is the answer.

In your situation, you could even cover all the bases and have a Dual Source Tivo 1 with Freeview and Sky attached to it and Tivo 2 with Virgin cable attached to it.
