Upgrade drive specs

I want to replace the hard drive of a Tivo Series 2 DVR.

Besides capacity and 3.5", what specs does it need? SATA, EIDE, parallel EIDE, etc.

only parallel EIDE drives will work in a Series 2 Tivo.

Parallel EIDE, also called Parallel ATA drives. Not Serial ATA (SATA). Does not matter if they're 7200rpm or 5400rpm, or how much cache memory they have.

Check out the Seagate DB35 series drives. They're optimized for DVR use and are the same drives that Weaknees uses.
