The new One True Media is here. Does anyone have an account so I can test out the new feature? None of my family members have TIVO and my friends who do have TIVO have the freaking DirectTv TIVO's which come with no extra bells and whistles. I just want to see if this new technology works with my two tivo units.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE to my original message: I have created a One True Media account and I have a 16 digit channel code assigned to me. I also updated all my TIVO units and sure enough they have the new software loaded on them. I am in the process of trying to figure how to load movies to the One True MEdia website from my TIVO unit but haven't figured that out. I am loading a video clip form my PC to the One True Media website but this is not my preferred way of doing it as it requires that I keep my PC turned on.

I'm afraid you can't send video from your Tivo box to the One True Media website - although that's a great idea - I'll pass it on to our engineers. Our users usually upload their videos, photos, and music from their computers - it's pretty quick and painless.

Here's a 16 digit channel code to get an idea of how the final output looks.

Brian, the transfer work good. One thing I have had a problem with is uploading some video clips to the One True Media website. Perhaps they are to big. Not to sure on my end. Is there a limit on the size of video to upload. Once I get the video up to the site I have been able to download it back to my TIVO unit.

Future wish list enhancements: It would be cool on the One True Media website if there was a graph that showed how much storage I have to upload videos and any text describing how big a video clip to upload. I stayed up pretty late last night trying to upload a video and it failed at the end. To bad it couldn't tell me it was going to fail before I stayed up all night.

Next item to wish for: Is it possible once I upload video to my site to assign a group of friends who can recieve the video clip. See I have a bunch of NASCAR buddies. They would only wnat to get home movies from when I took my video camera to the track. While my other friends would not want to have these video clips. Right now if I understand it correctly if someone puts my 16 digit code in on their TIVO unit and sign up for Gary's seson pass manager they will get every video clip that I load up. So for these users they might not want what I put up... Just an idea.

GFS

Maybe not directly, but there is a roundabout way of doing it. Just transfer the program from your TiVo to your PC using TiVo Desktop. Then use DirectShow Dump or tivodecode to convert the file to a standard MPEG. (or use VideoReDo if you want to make edits) Then upload the MPEG to the OneTrueMedia site.

Although a solution that would do the whole thing automatically, without transcoding, would be a lot cooler.

I sense you will let us know when you finish writing such a solution! (?) :)

It's is definitely doable - and you can use our website to edit it.

I have problems using the group upload thing, like one out of 3 fails, hit review and upload again, just keep doing that and eventually you will get everything up there :)

They don't have to sign up for a season pass, you can go in there and select individual movies, so they can select just the Nascar shows.

Mike,

are the files quite large? ie. >100mb? We do occasionally fail on those, and sometimes, the internet connection can "time out" on the users end.

Hmmm... I just bought that learning HME book. Perhaps I'll consider this as my first project once I actually learn something. :) (As long as the One True Media guys don't beat me to it first.)

Nope, I was failing on pictures there were 1-3 meg and videos anywhere from 5-40 meg

but they eventually worked.

They seem to work perfectly every time if I do the manual add function.

I cannot upload large (about 3 gig) video files to One True Media even though I am paying extra for the premium service which is not supposed to have a size limit. And it's not just sometimes - IT FAILS EVERY TIME and the error doesn't indicate why - it just says that the upload failed and to try again.

Can you split the video up into 3-4 chunks, upload those, and then just add them together?

Thanks. I can probably split the files into chunks and upload them but I am still very annoyed because I am paying for the premium service so I do not have to do that. Also, where is customer support? I am not the first one to complain that they do not respond.
