View Full Version : American Idol Not Recording

I just noticed that American Idol was not recording even though it was the very high in the season pass list. Secondly, there was no recording conflict. The second tuner was on Fox at the time and I was able to hit the record button and not miss anything. But why on earth would TiVo not record a show like that? That is a major problem!

But why on earth would TiVo not record a show like that?I think that the answer is in the question... ;)

Seriously, sounds like a mystery to me. Both tuners were idle? It must have thought that it was a repeat?

Aha! I figured it out on my own. I set up the season pass to not delete until I confirm, and to keep at most 3 episodes. Well, there was 3 episodes recorded so it didn't record. I guess that is the correct functionality, but maybe TiVo should send a message when a highly ranked season pass will not record due to these circumstances.

Not necessary when it is a disgusting show (however highly ranked in the SP list or wherever else) :p

In any case, glad you figured it out (but sorry you had to notice & ended up not missing it!)

Good catch! Yeah, KUID and KAM=low numbers can be a dangerous combination!

Yeah , Yeah... I admit it is pretty brainless TV. Butt the wife likes it, and I get a kick out of what Simon says to the contestants.

And if Tivo added such a warning/error message it would only annoy other people (like myself) who would never set up a Season Pass to keep only 3 episodes for a show of high interest.

(As an aside, this reminds me of my limited experience with Vista so far -- annoying pop up after pop up asking if it was okay for application X to access the registry when I clearly had started installing that program from the cd/dvd drive. At what point does enhanced security become annoying redundancy?)

Don't feel bad. It seems the entire country is brainless because everyone must be watching it. Heck I've not seen one episode but it's talked about so much everywhere I doubt there is anything I've really missed. :)

Waidaminit - she shows up in the audience?
I think I may need to add a Season Pass for this abhorrent, puerile show :)

Which is more brainless:

1. Calling people brainless who watch a popular show

2. Admitting you're making uniformed judgments about people for watching a show that you've never seen one episode of.

Both of the above, AND
3. Watching a show like AI :p

I'm only guilty of 1. I've tried it and detest it, so 2 and 3 don't apply.

Hey Platt, why are you picking on me? The OP was the one who said it was a brainless show. I was telling him not to feel bad about it.

Try reading the whole thread before you go picking fights with the wrong person.

Or are you one of the people who like the show and took it as a personal insult?

I did read the whole thread. And your post (even after re-reading it several times) sure sounds like you're calling anyone who watches the show brainless while at the same time saying that you've never watched the show. If that's not the way you intended it, I apologize.

Which is more brainless:

I'm gonna go with option 4:

4. Diving into a thread and insulting one poster among many for speaking ill of a mindless show that even the OP disparaged for no good reason without contributing a single thing to the actual content of the thread.

Ahh, folks, lets not make this personal. Include the all-magical, all-important smiley and express your opinion in a civil manner.

Like so: People who watch AI are quite brainless, IMO :D

(then again, I'd watch it if Shyamali was going to show up as a member of the audience again - so I AM brainless too!)

Maybe your Tivo is going on a hunger strike too until Sanjaya gets voted off.

You're right. On further reflection, my post had no place in this thread. It was a cheap shot and uncalled for, and I offer my apologies to both hornblowercat and missiontortilla.

Can't we all just realize we like different shows and not make it personal?

Absolutely, I thought the jest of the thread was we were kidding the OP who was joking right along with us.

Which I thought I was being supportive by saying the whole nation was brainless....blah blah....I guess I could see how you might think I was attacking but I really wasn't.

So if I offended you or the OP in any way I apologize as well. I really didn't mean to make it seem like I was attacking his television taste. Hey, it's the number one show in the country so there must be something to it, right?
