Travel Channel (http://travel.discovery.com/tv/1000-places/about.html)

This show starts this Thursday, March 29 on the Travel Channel. I'm really looking forward to it.

"Inspired by Patricia Schultz's best-selling travel book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die chronicles the journey of a young couple who put their lives on hold to travel the world for 14 weeks.

Albin and Melanie Ulle, newlyweds from Colorado, experience the vast beauty and diverse cultures of 13 amazing countries and approximately 100 of the 1,000 Places from the book, while unearthing all the local charms and traditions along the way!"

Thirteen countries, fourteen weeks, 100 places. See is about all they could do with that time frame.

I did 12 countries in 11 days. Now THAT was seeing. Fourteen weeks for thirteen countries doesn't sound particurarly crammed.

It also sounds like a fairly common Swedish vacation. :D

Thanks for the heads up. I'm torn as to if I want to watch it or not, seeing that it will probably be mighty depressing knowing that I won't be traveling for a few more years!

P.S. And I'm glad the Travel channel is actually showing travel programming! I can't stand all that World's Biggest Theme Park or the World Poker Tour crap, and enough shows on Vegas, people!

I've been to about half the places they go on their trip. I can only imagine how cool it would be to be able to take a 14 week trip at any age much less when you were as young and healthy as they are.

I just got back from Angkor Wat in Cambodia. That was amazing.
