I have a wishlist keyword for UFC, which is almost exclusively on Spike TV. However, I am getting a million UFC 69 Preview shows scheduled in my To Do List. Apparently T/W Cable in my area has a channel 99 (Bulletin Board) that is a public affairs/advertisement channel that is running this UFC Preview show over and over.

I can't figure out how to not record this Preview show on channel 99, yet tape all the UFC stuff on Spike TV. I tried going into the Channel menu item under Setup to delete the channel, but when I hit clear or thumbs down nothing happens - I can remove it from my scan list by deselecting it, but I still have the channel. I also tried selecting Thumbs Down on the show in my To Do List, but again nothing.

Any ideas - seems that this should be fixable, but I can't figure it out?

Thanks

Do you ever watch anything on channel 99?

If not, remove it from "Channels I Receive" and the wishlist shouldn't see it anymore, and therefore not record it.
Thumbs up or down only removes it from your Favorite Channels, not Channel I Receive.

I think I did that - I unchecked in from the Channels list, but I can still get it. That is, if I enter 99, the channel is still there. I concluded that unchecking it only removes it when entering channel up/down. Is that not correct?

You can enter any channel number and you will go there, wether you actually get that channel or not.

Removing it from Channels I Receive removes it from the guide, from up/down channel scanning, and from the database that Wishlists and Suggestions looks at to record programs.
At least it should.

Once you remove that channel, you might have to give it some time to redo the ToDo list and remove those recordings.

I thought Channels that I Receive was a Directv Tivo thing (I had one and remember than term).

On my S3, recently updated with the new software/firmware, under the Channels menu I have the following items: Channel List, Channel Scan, and Signal Strength - Cable. I am going into Channel List and unselecting channel 99. However I can still enter 99 and I get the channel. However, I can't channel up/down to get it as it now bypasses channel 99 going straight from 98 to 100.

Oh well, I will keep at it. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I might be calling it the wrong thing, but it's the same idea.

You "select" the channels you can get, "thumb up" to mark it as a favorite.

Once it's not selected, no check mark next to it, wishlist recordings should stop using that channel.

I might be calling it the wrong thing, but it's the same idea.

Somewhere in the early 7.x releases, "Channels I Receive" and "Favorite Channels" merged into one screen. pressing select on a channel will toggle the checkmark on (received), or off (not received). Thumbs up/down will switch the favorite-ness of the channel.

That is exactly what you want, you just may have to manually delete the items from the ToDo list or wait a while and it *might* automatically take them out, but from the point you remove the channel from the channel list it will no longer be able to search for new programs on that channel.
