I see that the American version of Vicar of Dibley is going to be entitled "Minister of Divine". The taping, starring Kirstie Alley, is to be April 19, 2007. I don't know if that means that it airs then, or if this is just a pre-taping for later broadcast.

Answering my own question. I found another site that said the first air date was June 1, 2007.

So which network plans to air the show?

Fox. Here's the blurb I found.
A new comedy for FOX - based on the British series ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ - about an outrageous woman (Kirstie Alley) who tries to make amends for her sins by returning to her hometown of Divine, Georgia as a minister in the church. Also starring Jonathan Tchaikovsky, Malcolm Barrett, Riki Lindhome and W. Earl Brown.
If Alice isn't great and they take out the final joke at the end -- how can it be funny? (Grin)

The BBC version was hilarious, and while I will not expect an exact dup, basing a new show on the original concept has potential. Looking forward to seeing what Fox does with the idea, and it'll be good to see Kirstie Alley back on a "major" network.
