I'm in the seattle area (eastside). A few weeks ago, I got a call where they asked for all of the info on my cablecards because they knew an "upgrade" was coming that might make me lose some channels. We went through it and that was that.

Today, I lost all my premiums. So I called and said "what's up" and they tried about 5 times to get my premiums back up and can't, so now they have to send a tech out.

Absolutely moronic.

I am also on the eastside (kirkland) and also lost my premiums as of last night. A call to comcast did not resolve the issue. I don't have a truck roll scheduled until friday, if you have one sooner, let me know what happens.

I'm curious. What info did they ask you for? They should know the cable card numbers.

What a bunch of idiots (comcast).

They probably asked for the Host and Data info. Early on they weren't recording that info.

Serial number, host, and data info. Comcast is now pairing cards and enabling CCI flags on more channels and apparently weren't recording the information. They were able to fix one of my two CableCards but had to roll a truck to replace the second. After sending them the data I thought about why they would want to do this. I pulled one of the cards out and put it in another device (I've done this once before when my tivo was continually rebooting) and sure enough it no longer works.

Is the point of this just to keep people from moving cable cards to other devices? (Not a big deal but AFAICT there wasn't a "firmware update")

Mine did the same thing as well. Luckily when I called I found someone that actually knew cable card stuff and was able to validate my cards and get the Authorization set correctly.

Good luck everyone!

i am going to get new cards, seattle westside here. I think with some they can end up getting them validated without new cards or a roll, and others they cant get to validate properly.

Comcast has been calling me as well asking for the serial numbers, the problem is I am working out of town and am only home on the weekends. My wife doesn't want to start yanking cards out of the TiVo just to give these dummies information they should already have.
I can just see it now, I get home call them and give them the information, then when I head back out of town, they "upgrade" my cards and break them and I can't do anything about it until the next weekend when I get home and the wife won't be able to watch all of the channels.

I found someone this morning who had a clue and she had it working in like 3 mins. Amazing how techs can vary that way. Scary actually.

But....isn't it supposed to work that way?

I had the dropped HBO channel issue. Called customer service will all of the host, data, etc info. They said it was all entered fine.

scheduled a tech visit, he worked for an hour, checking that everything was correct on the account, still could not get HBO to work.

He finally called the addressibility division, who re-checked all of the data in the account and found errors in both 'DATA' fields.

Fixed the errors, re-hit the tivo with a validation hit, and everything worked.

The tech calle few of his co-workers, who said there are a number of tivo's in the seattle area that they cant get working with HBO. It is probably the same issue.

So the recipe seems to be check that HOST and DATA are both there, and correct.
