Hi All,

I am moving overseas and will not have access to a very good internet connection and still want to be able to watch my Tivo shows on my hard drive on a big TV in HD. I want to know if anyone has experience in making the following set-up work and how I may go about doing it.

1 Tivo set-up in the US to record show (connected to the internet via ethernet)
2) Via FTP/or internet download the contents of my US based TIVO nightly at slow internet speeds
3) Upload the shows onto TIVO #2 located in my foreign location (either via a flash drive or other portable hard drive)
4) Watch the shows in high definition on big screen

Is this possible? And if I need to buy equipment where might I do it - I'm not very TIVO-literate so where would I buy upgraded (h$ckd) series 2 TIVOs if needed.

Thanks in advance for the advice. :) Victoria

Check out the Slingbox. All you need at the other end is a PC running WinXP and the Slingbox software. The picture quality will be degraded somewhat but it will not only allow you to watch your shows on the Tivo drive but it will also allow you to control your Tivo remotely to watch live TV.

There is a method for doing Tivo to Tivo transfers using FXP protocol and mfs_ftp, but it's really only set up to work across a home network and not the internet. I don't recall hearing of anyone being able to stream videos between Tivos across the internet successfully, but that's not to say it hasn't been done.

Thanks for the reply - I thought about slingbox but unfortunately my bandwidth will be very pooir so streaming would be painful at best. If they came out with trickle charge then it would be perfect as I could download all night to watch the next day. It's my understanding though that trickle charging has yet to come out on Slingbox.
