View Full Version : Failed 6.3c update -- Can I recover?

Apparently, I posted this is the wrong forum, so I'm posting it here now.

I stopped as soon as this happened to attempt to not make things
worse. I accidentally entered a carriage return in the installSw.itcl file on the line that reads:

exec /var/utils/updateroot /dev/hda /install /var/packages [CR]>&@ stdout
So, the script stopped and errored at that point. I inserted the [CR]
above to show precisely where the typo was. I've gone in and fixed
the typo, but have NOT re-run the script. I checked bootpage and the
partitions have switched. I have not rebooted or disconnected from
the unit.

Is there any way to recover from this or somehow continue the update? It doesn't seem like there's much more to do in the script. I am still connected via ethernet and FTP, so I can make changes at present.

I did quite a bit of reading and I'm wondering if this would work. I'd like to get confirmation BEFORE I try it, though. Can I run bootpage -f and then re-run the corrected installSw.itcl?

Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. If you need any
information about the unit, I'll be happy to post it.

Thanks!
