I'm a bit lost on this one. I've been trying to search the forums with no luck.
I just hacked my HR10-250 using InstantCake and PTVnetHD. Everything went smoothly until I tried to record something. It pops up a screen that says Final Setup Steps, then explains that I need to connect a phoneline to make a testcall before I can use my Tivo features. How do I get around this without letting the unit call out?
Thanks!

I ran fakecall.tcl and it seemed to work. Did a reboot and still no go.
I finally was able to get it to call out via my Vonage line, but I'm still confused why I couldn't get fakecall to work correctly.

do you have an error message?
I had a problem like that. It was discussed here... http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4949417#post4949417
I had to unzipper, reapply my image, let the tivo make its calls, and than I zippered it. Hope that helps.

You have to complete the first two calls following guided setup without the unit being hacked. Otherwise, you won't be able to record anything. You could disable fakecall (i.e., comment it out of the rc.sysinit.author file by placing a "#" sign at the beginning of the line or rename the fakecall script file to something else) and then let it dial out but it sometimes takes many reboots before you'll be able to complete a call successfully. Once you've completed the first two calls you can re-initialize fakecall (i.e., remove the comment from rc.sysinit.author or restore the original file name) and disconnect the phone line.
