Channel Jumping to +1 or -1

Hello,
I just started having this problem with my Tivo Series 2 box. I am using a series 2 hooked up to a general instruments cable box via the serial cable. Here is an example of my problem:
If i change the channel to, say, 45 it will flash show channel 45 on the cable box for about a second and then it will change to either 46 or 44. It does not always go in the same direction. So now, the Tivo thinks i am on channel 45 and i am actually on either 46 or 44. This time i will say it changes to channel 46. So, if i now press channel up the Tivo will change to 46, but the cable box does not change as it is already on 46. Now, if i press channel up or down from this point on it changes the channel correctly. But, if i select the next channel from the guide or type one in manually it will repeat the aforementioned problem. Needless to say, all my recording have failed to record on the correct channel.

Any help would be appreciated with this issue as i am at a complete loss. I have restarted both the tivo and the cable box to no avail.

I suspect that your cable box is the problem. You select ch 45 but it can't tune it, so it goes to the next channel, either up or down. What happens if you use the cable box remote to select ch 45?

If i change the channel with the cable box remote everything is fine and it changes to the designated channel? I have reset the cable box and went through guided setup on the Tivo and am still receiving the same results.... : :confused: :(

When i attempt to change a channel to say 45 it flashes on the cable box '045' and then either 46 or 44. Isnt there a way for me to tell the tivo to only enter '45' instead of '045?'

I dont have an ir cable so i am trying to avoid this :(

General Instruments DCT2000 series cable box (series DCT2000, DCT2224, DCT2244, DCT2500, or DCT2524), are the only model of cable box that is currently supported with serial control.

Have you simply restarted the tivo?
