View Full Version : Bizarre hiccup on channel icons

Last Sunday I hopefully tried redoing Guided Setup on one of my machines, to see if that'd somehow correct the time display.

Hey...the worst that would have happened would have been the clock stayed the way it was...or so I thought.

I haven't used the machine since then, but went to use it tonight.

Under "Now Playing", every single show from my local CW affiliate has the icon for STARZ/ENCORE alongside it.

I don't GET that channel. I don't even have a cable box.

I went to channel surf a bit to see what icons would come up on the banner, and very few channels had them.

Even my CW station is blank, in that regard.

So how in the world did my Now Playing list (including on a show recorded last night) end up with the STARZ/ENCORE icon next to every show recorded off my CW station?

Should I try GUIDED SETUP again?

I's say that you messed up the guided setup somehow. I'd go through it again. Then do a restart.

What's wrong with me?

I tell people all the time to try rebooting to "fix little problems" and never thought of doing it now myself.

Could you hand me that pointed cone hat over there? :D

I assume that it worked. :)

No. It didn't. Neither did another Guided Setup. :(

Starz/Encore is still showing up next to the CW station's shows.

The only thing I can figure is it's looking for either the WB logo or the CW logo to use, and neither are there. One no longer exists, and the other may not be in the system.

Somehow it's using the Starz/Encore one as a default. How it's coming to that genius-level decision, I can't fathom. Artifiical intelligence? Yeah. Right.

Just for grins, redo the guided setup using a lineup that you know isn't the right one. Then do it again with the correct one. I have no idea if this might work, but it's worth a try at this point.

BTW, what TiVo do you have and what is its signal source?

For the model numbers, see my sig. (The one that's doing this is the 300.) For the signal source, it's "straight cable" as in "analog, no box".

Sorry, I didn't check your sig and I've got nothing more to suggest. Time for someone else to suggest something. :)

I did try that "set up a different channel lineup and see what happens" idea you sent me.

Didn't change a thing in NOW PLAYING. LOL!
