How to hack without serial?

How can I access the files on the tivo hdd without having a serial port? Ive already installed the drive into my computer and upgraded using instantcake but I need to add a custom IR code. I have tried mounting the drive in linux(ubuntu) but it says its got invalid partitions or something. Thanks.

You would most likely need a usb ethernet adapter there's a list on zipper wikki.
If your near a fry's store you could pick the ASHO Airlink 101 for about 20 bucks.
but, from what i hear around here is that serial could be really useful for emergencys there is a post about it for xp computers but, I havent found anyone talking about Fedora. Far as i gotten about serial is you might need superuser access to use serial port
