Direct TV's New recorder

We had an additional recorder add to one of our rooms. Direct TV has replaced the TiVo with their brand. It is very user unfriendly; you have to keep the instruction book in your hand at all times. I was wondering does anyone know if I can remove that unit ...purchase a TiVo unit and use it in place of the Direct TV unit.

Yes you can purchase a Directv/tivo Standalone and use it in place of Directv's DVR. Just make sure it can get locals on Sat 72.5. Otherwise, you will not get locals if you subscribe to them.

You will have to return the leased Directv unit.
