I have a series 1 TIVO and a series 2. I have a linksys wireless G router and each TIVO has a wireless -b adapter. Lately one of the adapters hasn't been wroking well. So, I was thinking of getting the TIVO adapter for my series 2. My question is: can I use the TIVO adapter with my linksys router and will I be able to transfer between the TIVOs of one adapter is a Linksys and the other is a TIVO.
Thanks for your help.

I actually just switched over to using the Tivo adapters. I bought five all in one shot so that I could do them all at the same time. I'm in a similar circumstance in that I've got a linksys wireless g router, and I was using linksys wireless g adapters on the Tivos. However, my Tivos were occassionally spontaneously rebooting during transfers between the units, and I got told that the linksys adapters weren't really supported, and I should use the Tivo branded adapters.
With that said, I really hate the Tivo branded adapters. I've gone from connection strengths on the five units ranging from 75% (furthest away from the router) to 98% (closest to the router), to where I now have about 55% (furthest from the router) to 86% (closest to the router). Naturally, this means that transfers take longer.
I did some testing on my own, and as far as I can tell, yes, so long as they're both on the network, it doesn't matter if you're using the Tivo adapter or the Linksys adapter - it's the network connection and connectivity that matter, not the branding on the unit.
I'm still playing with positioning (I just got the Tivo branded adapters on Wednesday), and while I haven't had any spontaneous reboots, I'm significantly less than amused with the performance thus far.

I'm not sure if I understand your question about transferring. You can't transfer shows between a series 1 and a series 2. It has nothing to do with the adapters being used. If the adapter works and your network is configured correctly, all networking features will be available. However, the S1 does not support MRV, tivo to go, etc. so it doesn't matter how you're connected.
Also, they don't just stop working for no particular reason. If they were both working fine then one suddenly started getting flaky, I suspect a neighbor recently set up a router on the same channel near the tivo that's having connectivity problems. It may also be due to a 2.4Ghz phone.

jtown, I have always been able to transfer programs between my series 1 and series 2 TIVO's ~ I have never had a problem doing that. Recently though, my series 2 has been giving me an error message that it couldn't find the network. Evidentally I am not the only one having this problem, it sems to be an issue with the latest update. So, I switched my series 1 and series 2 adapters (both wireless -b). Now my series 2 is working fine but my series 1 is having networking problems - so I assuming it has something to do with the adapter.

No way are you transferring shows between a Series 1 and a Series 2.
Between a single tuner Series 2 and a Dual Tuner Series 2, yes. But not between a Series 1 and Series 2 (Series 1 does not support MRV)

Then that is my mistake, it must be a single tuner series 2 (I have had it for a few years).
So, can I continue to transfer shows if one has a TIVO adapter, and the other has a linksys adapter?

There should be no problem as long as both Tivo's are able to connect with the network, although that with the LinkSys adapter will probably be significantly slower than that with the Tivo adapter.
