I had installed Tivo Desktop on an HP a730n a while back (3.0ghz, 2GB ram, 250GB drive) and had some issues with it locking up and gave up on it.
Around the same time I noticed my Windows media Player started acting up and I started having problems with the WMP codecs.
At the time, I had not associated the codec issue with the Tivo desktop 2.3a instalation.

I now have a brand new self built PC (intel dual core, asus motherboard, OCZ 2 GB DDR2 400mhz) that I have been running without any problems for the last 3 months. Since all was well with the PC, I decided to finally install the Tivo desktop 2.3a to see how it worked. I did the whole setup and had some initial connection issues that I quickly took care of.
Once that was done I went about my business and decided to play some mpeg movie files I had on the PC.
Then I notice that the same issue I had with the other PC like video files that were black and white with some green and sometimes pink tones showed up, some files start playing and I hear the sound ok but the image froze on the first frame (the sound keeps going), WMP now sometimes locks up.
I then realized that Tivo Desktop 2.3a has to be the comom factor in this.

I had played some of these mpeg movie files for the last few months without any issues.
Now I'm here for some help.
Please tell me someone has a fix for this!
Thanks in advance for the help, it is much apreciated.

I get either audio with no video (just a black screen) on WMP or I get audio with frozen frames of video that change every 10 - 30 seconds. It seems to be that Tivo recordings get the latter, and everything else just gets a black screen
