Can I use an RCA DVR40 to record cable shows and not for DTV? [Text View]

:confused: Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to use an RCA DVR40 DirecTV Tivo and not sub to DirecTV.. I dont want to recieve any DirecTV channels but I would like to use it to record shows that are on my cable subscription. In other words more or less like a stand alone Tivo system...??? :confused:

nope not possible
a DTivo has no hardware inside that will allow it to record anything except a Direct TV stream
