Here is the setup. Tivo dual channel unit with an infrared connection to my Comcast cable box to change the channels. I bought one of those infrared transmitter cover so no outside signals can get into the cable box to screw up tivo changing channels. Works great.
Now I want to go to Comcasts "On Demand" channel where it has a menu that requires a remote control to move up and down the screen and to be able to select movies etc.. There are buttons on the front of the (General Instruments) cable box to make this happen but it would so much easier if the control that came with the tivo unit could be programmed to do this. The remote control that comes with the cable box obviously can't work because the infrared pickup is covered with the transmitter from the tivo box.
Anyone know of a way?

No. You'll have to use the cable box remote, but typically the TiVo emitter does not block the sensor entirely.

It does on mine since that was always the problem with outside infrared screwing up the channel switching. I bought one of those after market bright transmitters that comes with a hood that cover about an inch around the whole receiver. I try the Comcast Cable box remote to just turn off the cable box and nothing. I just though someone might have figured out how to use the second tivo on the remote to send the correct code through the tivo to the infrared and into the comcast box to work the on demand menu screen. Any geniuses working on it?

I'm not aware of anyone working on a way to relay arbitrary remote commands through a TiVo.
