Free HBO + Cinemax for 5 days starting March 15th, DirecTV and cable.

Debuting THURSDAY, MARCH 15 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), with the centerpiece documentary ADDICTION, the series is eye-opening and ultimately hopeful, providing guidance in navigating the often confusing world of addiction treatment and recovery.

For the first time, HBO will use all of its digital platforms, including the HBO main service, multiplex channels, HBO On Demand, podcasts, web streams, and DVD sales to support a campaign that includes a 14-part documentary series, a book published by Rodale Press, four independent addiction-themed films, a robust website and a national community grassroots outreach campaign funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

All films will initially be offered during a free HBO preview weekend from Thursday, March 15 to Sunday, March 18 in participating cable systems.

ooo and Cinemax? We get HBO already.

Cinemax doesn't have an HD channel on DirecTV does it?

So it starts tonight, 3/15 at 9pm ET with this documentary. When does it end? Yes, I read Sunday 3/18, but what time?

This says nothing about DTV and as of 9:30 PM EST HBO is not turned on.

I would guess it is a false alarm for DTV subs,

I would guess it is a false alarm for DTV subs,Damn. No go here either. And I had already set up like 10 recordings (yes, including Sex Games Cancun).

There is the VERY slight possibility that DTV will follow their normal routine of turning on free weekends at 5:00 AM EST on Fridays but I doubt this is available to DTV subs.

Normally a few DTV subs here receive a notice of free weekends from DTV and inform the rest of us and that has not happened.

I clicked the link. The article doesn't say anything about DIRECTV.

Here's what one sentence says:

Odd. The free preview here is not until April, according to my cable bill from last month.

Yeargh! Whenever anyone says HBO, I immediately think DirecTV. Sorry about that.

What we need is an official free preview weekend thread, so that whenever any hears about one, they can post in it. And you could subscribe with e-mail notification if you wanted so that you would know about it. I'm sure I miss some of these standalone threads.

Odd. The free preview here is not until April, according to my cable bill from last month.

Ditto. Here in San Francisco, the free HBO preview weekend is in April.

Same here, but not HD HBO. Watching free SD HBO is not going to entice me to subscribe.

I have comcast in Denver.

Rumor is that the free DirecTV preview is April 6-10.
I don't have the source anymore, just emailed the dates to myself when I originally heard about it.
