What t he heck is going on in Hollywood? Everyone taking a little break? I have season passes for several shows: CSI, CSI-NY, NCSI, CSI-Miami, House, ER, etc. I was wondering why in my up and coming shows to record, none were listed. So I checked and they are all repeats. So............. Is Hollyword on break or what?

I recommend reading this thread http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=343540

But since not many people probably navigate there I believe there could be two threads. I agree I find it annoying but at the same time it is a blessing since I am on Spring Break now and my Tivo is back at school and if there were new CSIs, House, etc. then I would lose things that I would like to have recorded to watch with the S.O. when we return after the week.

Even threads are repeats.

I'd think most people are aware of the fact that TV shows are not generally aired in a nonstop continuous string of new episodes and that repeats of previously aired episodes will quite often air during the periods when no new episodes are airing?

I think most of us are aware of it - the question is why - are they just trying to piss us off or do they think people like watching repeats?

All I can say is that the crazy way they broadcast shows is just another good reason to get a TiVo.

It's not unusal for this time of the year. You have the February sweeps. Then everything seems to slow and or stop, March Madness is approaching and I think the networks don't like to throw their best stuff against that. You see a sprinkling of new shows and some premiers, through April. Then May arrives and suddenly your running out of disk space.

Las Vegas had an interesting episode with all kinds of stuff happening, - too be continued - at the end, and I don't see it on my to do list. Meanwhile the deleted folder is growing.

I believe for the next two weeks many shows are stepping aside for March Madness.

As for "Vegas", that was actually the Season Finale. No more shows until the fall. And "wow" what a finale that was!!

Dang. Your kidding. Already the season finale?

I'll guess I have to tell the wife. She won't be happy about this one.

I think most of us are aware of it - the question is why - are they just trying to piss us off or do they think people like watching repeats? I think that most people undersatnd simple mathematics. 35 weeks. 22 or 24 episodes. Result: 11 or 13 reruns.

I understand the math its the timing I don't get March weather sucks in a allot more of the county than May's does. Most people I know don't have much going on in the winter and watch more TV than other times of the year. Of course that maybe the answer in it self they have a more captive audience in March so the push re-runs out and then try to keep you watching through April-May with new episodes.

But to be honest it doesn't much matter to me anymore having TiVo has fixed these types of annoyances.

Thanks,
actually they know people do NOT like to watch repeats and if you give them an easy schedule to follow they will skip the repeats and also maybe miss an episode if they are aired for 20 consecutive weeks and loose interest in catching the rest.

So they spread out the repeats and first runs to keep it loose and they also finally got smart enough to know when not to go up against various other events.

I have had to go into Season Pass Manager for Grey's Anatomy these past few weeks and show my wife they were repeats. Another useful feature in TiVo!

The problem is that they pay star actors >$1M per episode and then find out that they can't broadcast too many episodes. Pay 'em less, work 'em harder, and the viewers will be happy. :-)

I understand the math its the timing I don't get March weather sucks in a allot more of the county than May's does.March is when March Madness (college basketball) occurs. That's why you'll see not only repeats but lots of pre-emptions as well.

I second this. I've still got Spiderman 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, and others that I have not seen yet waiting on my TiVo. Repeats gives me a time to catch up! :)
