Hi there, I'm a little confused on something.

I have the DirecTivo HD recorder (HR10-250 I think, it's the TIVO one but I suddenly drew a blank on which model it is).

I have the output set to 720p and use component cables to send it to my 720p TV.

I would also like to be able to use S-Video to send it to a switch box I have to make it easier for the children to watch their SD shows from this recorder without having to change TV inputs. Both my DVD player and HR20 allow this. However I get no picture from the HR10. I'm thinking it's because the output is set at 720p and the s-video cable is not transferring the signal.

Is there a way to get this to work - basically HR10 outputting to s-video without having to change the output on the unit ?

If it's not clear let me know and thanks for any help.

The HR10-250 cannot provide simultaneous HD and SD output, so you cannot have 720p and 480i (S-video) at the same time.

I would like both also, but the best we can do is toggle the output resolution between 720p and 480i.

You can choose which resolutions can be set by pressing the UP arrow on your remote. If you only want to use 720p and 480i then select those two resolutions from the menu on the Tivo. I believe it is set via the video settings menu. When you want to toggle between them simply press the UP arrow on the remote to switch resolutions. You can also use the resolution button on the front panel of the HDTivo but you may have to cycle through all of them until you get to the one you want.
