I have 3 DTV DVR's with Tivo... 2 Series 2 and 1 R10. The R10 is able to dial out after only 1 or 2 tries(I'm using Viatalk VOIP). The others repeatedly get stuck on "failed. could not connect". I called DTV, got someone who tried the ,#019 stuff, and then said to do a full reset on them. Before I do that (ugh), does anyone have any suggestions on making them work?

As you've discovered it's tricky getting Tivo's to dial properly with VOIP phone systems. The easiest solution, if you're just trying to enable the lastest (DST) software updates, is take the DVR to a friend/neighbor/work with a regular analog phone line and call from there. If your Call Status says "Pending Restart" if the call completes, then your DVR will update its software when you power it back up at your place.
In general, though, you don't need a phone connection for any DirecTV DVRs. You just won't be able to order PPV movies with your remote. Or trigger software updates, which only happen rarely.

Yeah, I know... they haven't been hooked up for a while. One of them just started working out of the blue. Who knows.
