Hey, is this weekend the FreeView with HBO/Showtime and all channels open?
I heard it was coming up, just wanted to know whether to get my DirecTivo ready for the onslaught of shows.
Thanks,
Jeff

This is the first i've heard of an HBO freeview.
Do you have a link?

OK. Here's the deal. I dug around looking for a Freeview deal where the premium channels are all free for the weekend, and I found nothing.
They used to run these about two or three times a year and each channel - HBO Showtime Cinemax etc. used to provide free movies all weekend. Sometimes there woud be a banner at the bottom of the screen just to remind you to subscribe.
But as far as I can tell, that practice has stopped on DirecTV.
WHAT did happen though, is after a call to DirecTV I was offered three months of Showtime FREE by the phone person.
I didn't have to do anything but ask about the Freeview weekend and she offered it up.
So now I'm deep in movies and loving it. Will likely subscribe for $12 a month after it expires, but it's the coolest.
Later,
Jeff

Check out the new Blockbuster on-line if you like movies. I used to belong to NetFlix but I get about twice the number of movies with Blockbuster. I don't think you'll find a better deal anywhere for renting movies, plus you don't have to wait months for them to show up on HBO or PPV.
