I just got a Harmony 880 and it automatically set up all of my components except the HR10. That's a deal-breaker.

Can anyone with an 880 (or other Harmony remote) give me any tips on how to get the 880 to automatically control the HR10? I've tried various things (calling it a satellite receiver, calling it a PVR, saying it's a DirecTV model, saying it's a TiVo model), always tells me I have to teach it the commands manually. Which I wouldn't mind so much, except it doesn't allow me to teach certain crucial commands (e.g., "List").

Thanks for any help!

I have that remote, and it controls my HR10-250 just fine.
I followed these steps:
ADD Device>select Video Recorder>select PVR>select Hughes>type in HR10-250

Then the software will tell you it found more than one match. I selected the Tivo HR10-250 option.

Thanks so much, that did the trick!

One question -- is there a way to customize the 880 "Watch PVR" Activity so it won't put the HR10 into standby?

Thanks again!!

in that activity fool around w/ the options on the webpage, somewhere there is the option so you don't turn anything off or put it in standby

i use the 890 -- got it when I got my projector since all my components are now behind my seating area. it works great. the only thing the ir repeater doesn't hit is my projector, so when I initially sit down and start an activity, I point the 890 straight up at the projector so that it turns on.

the 890 works great and controls my hr10-250, toshiba hd-a1 hddvd player, and jvc hdmi receiver. I assume it will work great with the s3 once comcast finishes my switchover tomorrow... although I have to say I really like the new s3 peanut...

I have the 880 and last week I was adjusting things and I was told that it found an update for the HR10-250. I let it install and now it said that it would show up as a new device and it did. It actually showed up as D* Tivo DVR. Only thing I had to do was readjust the button timings again and it worked perfect.

Question for others that use the 880 and the 10-250 anybody have problems with doing a FF or RR and when you hit play you have to hit the button 3 or 4 times to get it to play. I know it's not the button because I have the problem on other buttons but the timing adjustment helped those for the most part and the screen will show that the remote is transmitting but the tivo power light stays on green and doesn't switch to amber to show that it is receiving a command from the remote.

I have had the exact opposite experience. With the remote that came with the HR10, I had to point it directly at the HR10 to get the HR10 to respond to the remote's commands. With the 880 I only need to be pointed in the general direction and I get a response, including the play button. I haven't had to hit any button more than once to get the appropriate response.

I followed the instructions posted above, using Hughes as the manufacturer. Maybe if you re-set your 880 for Hughes you'll do better. I'm not asying it will make a difference, but it might be worth a shot. You can always come back to your current settings if things don't work out for you.
