I received an automated call (800 number) on my cell phone last night from D*tv; reminding me to connect the phone line to my HR10-250 to receive an important software update.
Anyone else get this?
I'm wondering if this goes out to everyone, or are they keeping track of your downloads.

Could possibly be the update for the time change this weekend.
Why wouldn't they know what update you have. They know everything else about your account.

I figured that's what it was, but to get a call is odd. I'm more curious about being kept track of, by "the man."

keep phone line unplugged and they will never know what you have other than the original software :)
I dont know how to do it but others on the forum have updated without phonelines.

The voice message I got did say it related to the DLS situation. FWIW, I have one HD box, and two non-HD boxes. One of the non-HD machines is NOT regularly connected to the phone line. That said, that box was previously running 6.2 (that was the version that added folders, right???).
Oddly enough, I plugged it in and forced a call, and it went through a service update. Yet, the message informing me of the update says that I just got 6.2, advising me that I now had folders, and that I would need to reset my favorites, etc.! But, I already had folders, and my favorite list remained in tact.
The info page still says that it is running 6.2a.
I am guessing that D* simply added a DLS fix to the existing 6.x update, and did not bother to change the message that informs the user of the change.
I have seen no such update yet to my HD-Tivo box.

I got the same call. I think they are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Inevitably people will not hook up their phone line and their guide is going to be messed up for three weeks and they will be blaming D* when all they had to do was hook up.

Ah, so THAT was the call that came into my cell phone last night at dinner.
I thought it was strange, since the incoming# was 800-730-4645.
I answered it, but nobody was there, or at least nobody said anything, so I just hung up.
I just called it back this AM from another phone & got D*!
