All of a sudden my R10 thinks I live in a different state. My guide shows the wrong local channels...and I can't find any way to get the correct locals back. Do I need to redo guided setup....or?

Not sure how you got in this state, but ...

Go to Messages & Settings/Settings/Channels/Off Air Channels/Set Up Local Network Areas to change your local area for OTA channels

Uh, he has an R10, which doesn't do OTA channels... (you're thinking of an HD Tivo ;) )

willmw - you can't fix this; you need to call D* & have them rehit your receiver.

Before doing that, make sure that your R10 has the correct zipcode entered for your location. Then have DirecTV reauthorize your access card.

Guess what folks? The ZIP code that any DTiVo has in its menus is completely meaningless for anything involving the guide. It is used during setup for aiming help and to get phone numbers but nothing else.

The ZIP code that matters is the one that DTV has in their system.

If the ZIP code for the service address somehow got changed then a call to DTV is required to get it set back but if it has not been changed then all that needs to be done is:
Call 1-800-DIRECTV and choose the option saying you have an extension number appearing on your screen, then enter 711 for that number. That should automatically send a signal out to your receiver reset them to the correct locals.

If that does not work then you need to talk to a human at DTV.

Thanks for the info...I'll try that when I get home!

As OLdDog says - TOTALLY meaningless for anything BUT dish pointing. ;)
(and actually, getting the local phone#'s is done off of the area code you put in... ;) )

You're right - I was thinking of my HR10-250.

You don't have to call D* to hit your receiver - you can do it yourself via their website. I don't remember the specifics, but if you burrow enough you'll find it. I did this myself when I installed my H20 and it did not pick up on my locals.

Well, I don't believe D* allows this anymore from their website - if you know where, post a link, please.

Be that as it may though, don't you think it's actually quicker to just call the 800 & enter in 722 on your phone & it sends out an instant hit, with NO operator assistance??? ;)
It sure is for me, since I just did it for a client a couple nights ago ;)

Go to the following page:

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/secondaryIndex.jsp?assetId=1900001

and choose "refresh your services". You'll need to log onto your account.
