Faint/Dim Video on DSR7000 Directivo

So I went to watch some Tivo today in the bedroom and our DSR7000 connected to the flat panel in there is looking really dim. Just not a bright picture at all. I had to jack up the TV settings to see the picture.

I don't think it's the TV because the menu on teh screen is bright as usual - it definately seems like the tivo.

Any ideas??

How do you have it connected to your TV? Composite? RCA? S-Video?

S-Video and then tried RCA. Seems to have stopped for the time being - totally weird though.

I little constructive criticism for you. Please learn how to use the quote button. Once you have the quote, you can then edit out the unneeded parts. :)

I know how to use the Quote button... and sometimes I do

People also know (or should know) how to read... but there are still a lot of "hacking" and "upgrade" type messages posted in this forum instead of over in the correct forums at http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Without trying to start a war... I will continue to point new people asking hacking questions toward that forum... and I will also continue to decide for myself if I want to click Quote, or just copy/paste a small part of the message, or maybe do as people sometimes do here and just add my answer with no references to the previous discussion at all

That's not what I'm saying. IMHO, your use of the ">" to indicate a quote doesn't make the quote standout. It also doesn't indicate who made the original quote if it is back a few posts.

BTW, you can continue to cut and paste parts, just use the [ quote ] and [/ quote ] (remove the spaces) tags if you don't want to use the quote button.

I have no problem with you pointing people to pertinent threads or forums. Heck I've done a lot of that myself. :D

Have you tried the RF output to see if that makes any difference?
I'm I right to assume that it started working again on 3/8 because of a reboot?

No - if I unplug it for awhile (overnight) when this happens then plug it back in it usually works again.

It was 44 (normal) yesterday when it was dim.

Everything is dim. Not just playing shows - even the startup screen.

Can I replace the main board?

I don't know of a source for the main board. There are places that may be able to repair it. I'd be looking to replace the unit.
