View Full Version : Tonight Show 3:05 AM repeats?

I have a SP for "The Tonight Show" (First Run only, KAM=3.) Why does the SP insist on picking up those 3:05 AM repeats so often? Looking in the episode description, it *does* have an "R" at the end -- which I assume means the guide data is accurately labeling them as repeats.

It's not a huge deal, I can just increase my KAM, or manually delete them, or set up a manual repeating recording for 11:35 PM instead. But I'm curious why none of my other SP's exhibit this issue, of a "First Run" SP not actually filtering properly, when the Guide Data appears to be correct.

Not sure this applies but I also get the 3:00 showing on my Comcast DVR (3416) and it's also set to record first run only.

It could be that, since the repeats are often very recent, they're still counted as "new"; so if it didn't record them the first time*, it grabs them. I believe "new" status is based on the original air date rather than the "R" flag, and anything within a certain time after that (two weeks? four?) is still counted. That's how it can pick up repeat airings of a new show later in the week, when it can't get the first airing due to conflicts.

* Oh, or maybe even it if it did, but they were deleted unwatched -- ISTR something about that.

I have DirecTV and get the same thing, about three months ago I setup 2 manual recordings (5 minutes long), so it wouldn't record the rerun of Leno.

Make sense. It's too bad the TiVo doesn't take the "R" (ie: repeat) designation under better consideration.

This is a new TiVo and a new SP. I imagine in time, these 3:05 AM "repeats" won't record as they fall under the 28-day rule.
