hr10-250 down pls help

Would appreciate any experince with this. Purchased Hr10-250 2 years ago, had a power up problem in 1st year DTV replaced it. Now this one won't power up. Any thoughts on fixing it myself or should I purchase something "new and improved" which I am also prepared to do[if so any recomendations?]. Many thanks.

Please explain the power up problem. Do any front panel lights work? Does the fan or hard drive spin up? If you can check the output of the power supply and that's the problem it could be replaced.

Unfortunately, the new and improved HD DVR isn't a TiVo. This is called the HR20 which can receive the new MPEG4 channels.

Jim, yes the fan motor runs only, no panel lights and I don't hear the hardrive. The power supply makes sense, does that sound right?............Andy

That would be my guess. The fan gets its power via 7v on the mainboard, so the power supply is supplying the 7v. But, the drives use 12v. I'd try to check the different voltages from the PS before jumping to any conclusions. The hard drive could also be bad.
