I have an R10 I have hooked up via the composite cables to a Sony GX300 DVD recorder. The DVD recorder does not seem to be able to get the video signal from the R10.

- I hooked up the R10 using the same cable to other devices and the video outputs just fine.

- I hooked up my DSR6000 DTivo to the same input on the DVD Recorder and it I get the video signal without any issues.

So the issue seems to be with the R10 and outputting the video signal to the DVD recorder.

Is there some type of copy protection in play here? Any other suggestions?

Thx.

Does this happen with recorded shows from all channels? Or is it channel specific? There have been others asking this question.

Happens to the entire signal. I get no video (not even the Tivo menus) when connected to the DVD recorder.

The menues aren't a protected signal. You have something connected or configured wrong.

This is why I am puzzled as I would have though the same. However the signal works fine except when connected to the DVD Recorder (same output/cable, etc.) Video signals from other devices work when connected to that same DVD input.

I wouldn't consider myself a novice when it comes to connecting/troubleshooting AV components, so that's why I'm asking for some ideas/help.

Exactly what connections are you using? And are you absolutely sure you aren't connecting to the DVD recorder's outputs by mistake? Also, you do have the correct input selected on the DVDR?

I am using the composite out L/R/V from the R10 to Input#1 on the DVD Recorder.

I have a S1 DTivo sitting right on top of the R10. If I unplug the cable from the R10 and plug it into the S1 the video comes through just fine. So I do not see how it can be a cable or DVDR configuration issue.

Can you hear audio at all? Also can you try S-Video

While it would not cause a problem with all channels, sony dvd recorders are known to not record things such as ppv's and movie channels like hbo.

The dvd recorder just might be bad. Have you tryed it somewhere else? Like a different location, or take it to your neighbors or relitives house to see if it realy works.

Some of the R10's have problems with cables (losing all signals). Try using s-video (or any other cable) instead.
