Bo was incredible. He just seemed to be written perfectly believably.... well, at least once you get past the kid learning about the local town's football teams so quick; on the other hand, he probably noticed the sign. :)

Actually jsut about every character is just amazing. The scene of Tami and Tyra finally talking to each other was excellent.

It's like someone hid cameras all over some real town and we get to watch the edited footage. Jason does need to smarten up and drop Lyla quick. She's gonna bring him down.

Bo was a good character.

I'm not sure why people do not watch this show - it's great.

Yup, another great show. I like how football (the actual game) was simply the first 5 seconds and that was that.

But Buddy, sleep in your office -- not my couch.

Oh, and take the job coach. We know you won't, but you should.

I think hiding Smash's steroid use is going to bite him on this one.

Yeah, what was all that about? I guess he didn't want to be alone, but he certainly had a place to sleep... and even to spend the day.

There are times I forget this is a TV show when I watch it. The writing and acting is so good it feels like a reality show sometimes. I guess I was wrong about smashes girl hidding a pregnancy but instead was getting help for manic depression. Coach made a great little speech to buddy who just does not get it. My only complaint is not enough matt and his side kick. Bets on how long before riggins hooks up with the MILF. The little bonding time with mrs. taylor and tyra was very well done. I think mrs. taylor understands tyra more and finally sees it was not all evil tyra corrupting innocent little julie. I swear I have seen the street/lyla drunk jealous scene more than a few times in my life.

This show has become my #1 drama on network tv and only second overall to the shield.

I can't believe Buddy actually went through the effort to find out what had been written on the notepad. If I were coach, Buddy would have been out of the house instantly. Actually, he would never had spent a single night in my house. What an a$$shole! Sadly, there probably really are booster like that in high school football. I know they exist in college football becuase my alma mater has one (at least).

Another great episode!

Coach's job offer is a good set up in case the series isn't renewed.

Best line in the episode:
Buddy (talking about the affair): You know how women are about these things....
Mrs. Coach: Yeah.....

I thought he had money. How how he isn't sleeping in a motel or something?

He didn't want someone to see him come out of a hotel and know his marriage is on the rocks. He said something to that affect when he was finally leaving coaches house. Now, the fact that this all went down in the church yard after church let out, the whole town already knows. But I guess he is not thinking about that.

And I would think that more people are likely to see him leave the coach's house than would see him leave a hotel/motel (especially if he picks one the next town over).

Yea, but being who he is most wouldn't think anything of him leaving the coaches house.

I thought that this episode kind of dragged and the storylines could have been done without an entire hour devoted to them. The thing with Bo dragged out longer than it needed, we all already knew that Tyra's mom was screwed up...the "TMU" situation was something new and interesting, and it introduced a woman that Riggins will soon be hooking up with...that's about it. I don't know how often we need to see a bunch of guys in wheelchairs hanging out and getting drunk at somebody's house...apparently at least 3 times per episode.

What is TMU? Texas Methodist University?

TMU is fictitious (the first Google result is Tarbiat Modares University, somehow I doubt that's it)

TMU is obviously a fictional version of Southern Methodist University.

I'm sure the UT Longhorn fans would refer to TMU as "Too Many Udders." :D

I enjoy the writing that is done for all, but Mrs. T the most. Instead of becoming confrontational she explains how she really feels and diffuses the situation, and makes a new friend in the process. Great show, hope it sticks around for a while.

I'm not at home so I can't transcribe it, but I thought he made some comment like, "I guess I'll go sleep at a motel . . . all alone." Basically trying to make Coach T feel guilty for kicking him out. I didn't think there was anything about others seeing him at the hotel.

As Doug said in the OP, my only problem with the ep was the little kid being such a huge Dillon Panthers fan. At first I figured they just moved from across town so it made sense, but when they said they moved from "Knoxvul" I thought it was pretty silly.

Maybe he Googled his new hometown before they moved.

I thought he was getting practice for his American Idol audition....

What? I'm the only one who sees Buddy every time Sundance sings or talks on AI?

I don't have a problem with this. It only takes one game to make kids #1 fans of a team. Even if they just moved in that week, the mother could've taken the kid to the playoff game and that's all it takes. Then he sees that his neighbor is one of the team's players and he's all up his butt. Kids can be crazy like that.

I remember when I was 6 or 7 and I watched Super Bowl XIII on TV. I became a huge Pittsburgh and Dallas fan after watching only one game of football. I wore Lynn Swann's number in elementary football and everything.

(Eventually I wised up and dropped the Steelers for my beloved Cowboys but you get the picture. :) )

Tcu + Smu = Tmu

TAMU - "Agriculture" = TMU :)

I guess we will have to see whether the fictional TMU is a big state-supported school or a private University.

It is kind of odd they chose to go with a fictional university, as they've repeatedly said the University of Texas and Mack Brown exist in the TV "FNL-verse."

Not only that, clearly they are implying the kid needs a father figure, and he is attaching to Riggins. Whether he saw the game or not, he knows from the sign in the front yeard that Riggins is the FB, and thus is trying to worm his way in with the flattery about singlehandedly winning the game).

I'm not sure I like the job offer storyline. It's the wrong time of the season for it to happen and it wouldn't happen so fast based on one dinner. Didn't they also say earlier that UT wanted to talk to him about an assistant position? That might be a better career move. But we'll have to see where they are going with it. This show is great, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

And I'm trying to find anything redeemable about Jason these days. He's been through a lot, but he is really self-absorbed! I guess that's still the QB star in him. Unlike others, I'm hoping Lyla smartens up and drops him!

I was a little suprised at the quick job offer as well. And I wonder how this will play out if there is another season. Someone mentioned Smash's steroid abuse coming out. I think that could be a possibility.

As for Jason, I totally disagree. Considering all he's gone through in the past few months, can you blame him for getting excited about finding a new goal in his life? He's not my favorite character by any means but I think he's become a ton more likeable since going to Austin for this rugby thing. Lyla, on the other hand, showed her true colors at the party. She was freaking out because they were partying with "people that scare her"?? WTF is that about? Talk about self-absorbed spoiled brat! She's lucky she's hot. :)

Lyla is from a little town, too. And we all know that Austin is pretty "different" compared to the res of Texas (even the big cities, and especially the small towns). She's probably not been exposed to much. Not really uncommon. Doesn't make them bad. Just not "aware". But yeah, being hot helps. :)

I still don't know why they made up a fake school. They've used real school names before, including naming UT as a school interested in Coach Taylor. (not that it's a major issue. Just a curious one)

I'm getting the feeling with all of Jason's talk about making this team, that he's not gonna make it and his world is gonna spiral out of control.

I can see him now with 3 day stubble, and a half empty pint of JD in his lap yelling at Lyla...while Buddy is in the 'I told ya so' realm.

Seems a natural twist for the writers to utilize, but we'll see (otherwise he dumps Lyla and she ends up with the 3 day stubble and half empty bottle of JD, lol...while he and his new tattoo artist gf head to Bejing or Seoul together).

Excellent actors and show...love it every week.
