Question about BLACK DONNELLYS opener

When you see people in the hospital waiting room, is one of them supposed to be the boys' mother? I'd heard Kate Mulgrew is playing her as of the second episode, but there was one woman who sort of looked like her, and another you only saw from behind.

Think either was supposed to be the mother?

They did imply Mom was in the other room. They referred to taking her food. But Mulgrew was not around when they shot the pilot, so...

The answer is the character was supposed to be there, but the actress was not. What you saw was either just an extra or a previous actress for the mother, neither of which would have been meant to resemble Mulgrew.

I don't know about the mother, I couldn't even figure out the kids! Pilots are for introducing the cast, setting things up, but I was unable to follow it. Color me stupid, but I still can't figure out which one was in jail, telling the story.

He was the smart-@ss hitting on the girl at the wake, and also the "bag man" picking up the ransom for, err, Jimmy. ^--That right there was my problem; too many brothers, and lots of jimmy/timmy/tommy/***mmy names flying around...

In the opening of the episode, the smart-alec ("Jimmy Icecream") is talking about the Donnellys. Onscreen you see children running, and he names the four brothers, and the girl who was "sewn to their hip". (Unofficial Donnelly "sister", I guess).

Nothing confusing about it, if you saw it from the beginning.

I'm not saying I remembered all the names as to who was who, but this was only the first episode. Four guys' names isn't going to be that hard to remember...

...provided you ENJOY a show where the heroes are kidnappers, murderers, and thieves. :(

(The show isn't quite what I expected, in that regard.)
