My personal opinion is Indian guy in fedora and black guy in pink t-shirt (sang Lauper) are going home.
I'm impressed with guy that sang Marvin Gaye, Chris Sligh, beat box guy, and buzz cut guy.

Martha, I absolutely agree with you. I really want Sanjaya to go home. Now. And Brandon wasn't terrible, but he was very boring.
I enjoyed hearing Chris Sligh sing "Trouble." It is one of my favorite songs, and I thought he even did a better job with it than Taylor did last year. And damn - Chris Richardson rocked! His voice reminds me a lot of the lead singer of Maroon 5, which is definitely a good thing.
So glad the guys were better than last week!

Unfortunately, Sanjaya might get the pity vote, because he SERIOUSLY got crushed by the judges (and for good reason, he was AWFUL). I hated his performance, and I even felt sorry for him after it was all said and done.

I actually felt sorry for him as well. But unfortunately, he just wasn't good. Wow - how did he make it this far? He seemed OK at the original tryouts.

Yeah, Sanjaya was painfully bad.
But he'll get the votes.
My guesses:
Nick Pedro, bye bye.
Sundance, bye bye.
Sanjaya, bye bye.
Yeah, I can't decide between the last two.

Well, the problem is I thought Sanjaya was by far the worst last week, too, and he came in the top four!! That guy has some serious fans somewhere--and it's not because he can sing. Bleah! He was even worse this week and I didn't think that was possible. And I agree that Brandon should be the other one gone.
The guys definitely pulled it together this week compared to last week. I didn't think Sundance was that great, personally (he's great at the chorus, when he belts it out, but the "regular singing" was pretty bleah).
Pretty good night overall.

Sundance, Drew? Really? Absolutely no way. He was able to stick around last week with votes and he was a million times better this week. He stays.
Sundance, nah. I know he won't win, that's for sure. So I'm ready for him to go now. He's a one-trick pony. And even doing his trick, it was just ok. We all sound good singing "Mustang Sally, now baby" over and over and over and over and over and over and over... I think people will remember we don't like him much. Perhaps I'm being mean, but the dedication tears were a bit much.
Brandon is a favorite -- it was an off performance for him, for sure. Bad song. But he's good. Real good.
Like someone above said, Sanjaya is the one with huge backing. He was pretty lousy last week too. Though as I'm typing this I can see much of his support jumping onto a winning horse this week and leaving Sanjaya to lose. Two bad performances in a row and you'll start losing those fans.

Did anyone besides me in Houston on TWC have an issue with the HD feed.
I had no sound until right before Chris Sligh sang. At one point it jumped to commercial, changed signals to the CW then back in the middle of AJ singing.
Granted I didn't miss anything too crucial. I had the captions on for Simon crushing Sanjaya's precious little soul. I'm ready for him to go too.
Blake was awesome. He's only going to get better and better. Sligh was good. Chris Richardson is a little annoying to me -- like a 33 rpm record on 45. Sundance earned another week...he'll pick up a few more votes this week. Phil.. from the replay snippit.. meh. Brandon is bucking for the bus ride home.
Fun week for the boys even though we had oddball tech issues.

FWIW, we watched the show in HD as well (in the Indy area) and had to crank up the volume to hear anything. All of the sound seemed to be coming through the center channel but not any of the front L/R or surrounds.
These incidents could be exclusive, but thought I would pass it along.

I think Sanjaya is getting the "Kevin Covais" vote, which is scary because it means he will probably make the top 12......
I also thought Pedro's dad looked like Ray Romano in that picture - kind of like if they were doing a flashback episode of ELR thats how the make-up people would make him look.....

I agree with my fellow TC'ers. Sanjaya needs to go. Brandon is darling, but not ready to be a foreground singer. Even my 10 year old noticed that he sounded exactly like the background singers.
I think Sanjaya wearing the hat may hurt him. The teeny-boppers who would have voted for his cute smile and long hair can't see it.
I am impressed with the rest of the guys though - after last week I figured most of them were good auditioners but talentless on stage. I was wrong: Chris Richardson was killer. Sundance finally lived up to his potential. Blake was great.

Yeah, how did Chris Sligh land that hottie girlfriend? :p He must sing a lot to her because he was very comfortable doing it last night. Good performance.
Jared (Marvin Gaye song) was not great, but good enough to stay.
Nicholas was boring and might go home. Same with AJ (what is it with people named "AJ" on AI???)
Sanjaya  (wonder how many Indians vote for AI?)

I read about 6 Idol sites and their take on things. They think it's Nick, Sanjaya and Bradon as the worst three. Pretty much agrees with most of us here. Other interesting snipits:
The judges felt that Chris Richardson was outstanding. They were wrong. He tenderly dedicated his song to his Big Mama grandmother, but he rushed through it leaving us in the dust. He did not take us along for the ride. Maybe that was part of his appeal, the squealing of the tires burning down the road. Yet his vocals range is limited.
Mrs. Sundance Head and baby Levi, are you ready for the big time? Because your husband and father is an incredible talent. He is, right now, ready for the studio and ready for the stage. This big man packs a mighty wallop of a voice. He is sizzling on the grill and we are ready to devour him.
It’s tough to predict which two guys will be going home on Thursday, because all the guys improved from last week. Based on tonight’s performance, it would likely be Sanjaya Malakar and Brandon Rogers. However, they both have been very popular contestants among the viewers, and popularity plays into the voting. Our prediction is that it will be Nick Pedro and A.J. Tabaldo going home, based on a popularity vote.
Poor Sanjaya—this song was so not right for him. Nonetheless, I think he will be safe…12-year-olds LOVE speed dial.
An anchor performance after a shaky week and an extra tag of a baby with daddy’s goatee on top. Is Idol trying to tell us something? The tears he shed in the video clip will be worth a bucket full of votes. A big guy with a big heart and a big voice. America will love it. But how well did he sing? The arrangement stunk, and the song has been done better by others – including a certain 17 year old Irish kid in The Commitments, but he performed well enough that when you add in all the intangibles they heaped on the pile for him he’s in about as much danger as a gorilla in a room full of kittens.
Sanjaya will be safe thanks to the Clearasil contingent, and Nick’s dimples may buy him another week. I predict Jared and, I hate to say, Brandon, may bid us adieu. I suggest they sing us out as a duet: “Let’s Get It On Time After Time.” Sigh.
Singing impressively, Chris Sligh, dedicated his song to his beautiful wife. And that dedication was also made to us with a full throttle vocal performance. He has range and ability. Yet his stage moments were kind of like an aimless pigeon pecking about Trafalgar Square. But don’t worry, Chris, you can learn how to command the stage because you certainly have the voice to keep our interest.
Sundance Head has been getting by on luck. His talent hasn't been that obvious up to this point. I don't like this emotional stuff before singing. It's like Queen for a Day. Who can make up the biggest boo-hoo story and impress the audience? Anyhow, Sundance is singing “Ride Sally Ride” and I wouldn't want it dedicated to me. It's about being a bad girl. Is his wife a bad girl? He is a lot better at this than anything he has previously done. I wonder if his dad suggested this? It's from his dad's era, but he rocks it. He finally acts like a singer and gets a hit instead of fouling out. It's only a single though, not a home run or even third base.

I'm going to be perturbed if Sanjaya does not get eliminated. I don't see how he can be popular. Not only is he a bad singer, I don't see much redeeming about his personality. He's completely nonmacho. What do the voters see in him?
In fact, last week, both my wife and I were fairly annoyed he wasn't eliminated then. We both thought he was in the bottom two of that week. This week just seals/reinforces our opinion about him. On an amusing note, it looked like we was on the verge of crying when the judges gave him a new oriface. :D
Also, the second worst is a close call, but I'll agree with some others of you and say the guy who sang "Time after Time" by Cindy Lauper is the other guy who needs to go. I've never been that impressed by him from the beginning, including the tryout phase.

I think Brandon will go. I'm not sure who will leave with him.
I think Sanjaya sang well both nights. He certainly wasn't off pitch. He just picked weird songs. He was in the top 4 last week so I doubt he will get voted off this week. The way he was dressed I expected him to do a Michael Jackson song so I was surprised when he did the old song he picked.
I also think there is some bias against him as they scolded him for doing an old song and dedicating it to his grandfather and then said positive things about other singers who chose grandparents as their dedication.
And singing aside, he's better looking than any of the other male singers.

Sanjaya was not off pitch, but his voice sounded weak and rushed. Compared to the other 9, he just seemed clearly the worst one to me.
But then again, he was voted 4th best last week, which mystifies me.
How do we know he was in the top 4?Last Thursday, as they announced the status of each of the 12 men, they got down the last 2, and one was Sanjaya. They said one is eliminated and one was voted 4th best. I was sure that Sanjaya was the one going to be eliminated, but I was wrong.

Nick (and his badly waxed female-looking eyebrows) and AJ have to go. They're just not in the same league as the others. They're too amateur-ish.
I also got the Michael Jackson vibe from Sanjaya, which is why I think he'll stay a bit longer. He should have sang something from Michael Jackson with that outfit on.
My favorite performance was Blake's, but that's because I love that song. I also think Chris Richardson was good, and Sundance and Chris Sligh were good but overrated.

That shoulder bob is definitely muppet-esque.
I said the same thing in last week's boy thread.
Phil - like his voice.
Jarred - he was quite sexy last night. I thought Paula creamed her pants over him! He reminds me of the black guy on Criminal Minds.
Aj - meh
Nick - meh. Stooopid to make his dedication to a girlfriend. Wife, mother, gramma, fine, but not a girlfriend. I hope she breaks up with him.
Chris Sligh -his performance wasn't memorable to me. He looked cute in his wedding pic, but has let himself go. His wife reminds me of Anne Heche.
Blake - I like him and he was fun. I also liked his outfit, I think that's what Simon was talking about styling to Nick.
Sunjaya - he was channeling Michael Jackson, uuugggh.
Brandon was horrrrrrible. He looks sweet but that song was terrible. I think he looks like D.H. Hughley.
Chris R. - I just didn't see what the judges saw then. I thought he was terrible, but what do I know.
Sundance - I didn't like him in the auditions or last week, but I liked his song last night.
I really enjoyed the band and the background singers last night.

Some strange dedications. Jared dedicates "Let's Get it On" to his parents, and Chris R. dedicates the oral sex song to his granny.
I didn't think the guys were any better this week than last. I just think the judges were a lot easier on them this week. Maybe someone told them that if they keeping trashing the guys, it doesn't exactly help to sell the show.
I thought the judges were going to tear Nick apart for singing a wimpy version of an old song, and instead they liked it. The only bad thing Simon had to say was about his suit.
And while Sundance was much better than last week, that wasn't a great performance by any means. Any generic criticism the judges have ever uttered could have applied to that performance. An old song, a bar-band performance, it doesn't display his vocal range (despite what Paula said - I guess she thought that scream he did was showing his range as a singer), etc., etc.
I don't get the fawning over Chris R. at all. The judges/producers must have it in their heads that the girls will like him because he looks like a boy-bander. There's nothing special about him as a singer.
Chris Sligh is not only married, but his wife is kinda hot. I would have bet the farm that neither of those things were true.
My prediction is that the girls are going to make the guys look bad again.
It should be Sanjaya and Nick going home.

I think I've figured out what's 'off' with sanjaya....
you see, his parents desperately wanted a boy, and when their second child was a girl, they were DETERMINED to have a boy. they didn't want a third child, and risk having another girl... so.... their second child, their son, sanjaya was 'born'.

in the hiphop world, he's fine...
but the reason these rappers do that move is cuz it's easy... most of them can't dance, and they can't just stand there like celine dion, and they used to just pace the stage back and forth, until someone figured out they could shoulder bob/high step to the beat...
heck, you could do the move to the beat and look like a legitimate rapper.
the other move is put your arm out straight and point with 2 fingers angled down... and move the arm up and down with the knees. if you want to vary it, you can go side to side as well.

If this dialidol place is accurate, we're in for some interesting stuff this year.
I'd start telling idol hopefuls to:
1. Be unique
2. Memorize your lyrics
3. Be cute
oh yeah...
4. Sing well
I'm rooting for Blake, Mr. "Vocal Turntablism!" I thought his Jamiroquai cover was really good and fun to watch. And despite what Simon said, I think he put enough of his own spin on the song (except for the hat). Anyway, I'd much rather see a quality cover with less "heart" than the god awful Cyndi Lauper cover that other guy did.

Yes, a lot of what he did was just a repeat of Cindi Lauper, and the part where he did his own thing just sounded stupid. That is, at certain points he'd vary his voice and sing several notes around the correct note, and do these stupid hand gestures. That performance pretty much stank, and I say he should be one of the two to be axed.

I think that needs to be addressed in a new thread. I've TiVod tonights ep but haven't seen it yet. Discussion of it in this thread, I think, would be illegal spoilering.

OK, help me fellow Idol viewers.
I remembered the votefortheworst site, the one that encourages folks to, well, vote for the worst singer), but there has also been another site mentioned in FORUM that actually predicted, with some accuracy, the winners and losers for each night.
I know they had taken some heat from the show and the network, but I did not think they had shut down.
Does anyone know what site this is?
I thank you!

She didn't really have tats-- it was a long-sleeved form-fitting shirt underneath her regular short-sleeve shirt. The patterns sure did make it look like tats, though, if you just glanced at her.
