Don't think they're gonna make that target, everything I can find says they are still in negotiations with Warner and haven't started shooting yet.
But, the book is due out later this year.

It looks like it's a mini-series, but for who? Sci-Fi? USA? A broadcast network?
I'm not sure I want to see Jane Badler 20 years after the original ...

And what about Marc Singer? What shape is he in?
And Robert Englund (aka, Freddy Kreuger), is he still just, er, lost??

I'm very excited about this new mini-series. It's been a long time coming. It should be interesting to see what they can do with the advancements in special effects since the original movie. :)

On the other hand, I've just done a search and checked several references, and the IMDB post is the only item I found newer than 2003. I wouldn't put much stock in it.

I'm impressed.
I'd heard the idea of making a sequel had been squelched, and the suits were insisting on a remake (ala' Galactica) which would start things all over again. It was that or nothing.
If this is a true "Next Generation", I like that.

I need to get the DVDs of the first series since I never watched it. I saw all the mini-series but not the series TV show.

Be prepared to be let down, the series flopped and ended wide open.

And as I understand it, the new mini will ignore the TV series, and jump ahead 20 years from the end of either the original mini, or the end of V: The Final Battle (the sequel mini).
In other words, the events seen in the weekly TV series never happened. (That's what the plans were months ago, anyway.)
Why is every post in this thread ending up in my e-mail inbox as an alert?
Is there any way to get just the SP alerts and not the threads that are discussing things other than SP alerts? How do I configure this direct-to-inbox forum feature to just send Season Pass alerts to me and not other threads (like this one)?
Thanks.

Report the thread to the moderators and ask them to move it (not an unreasonable request)...

For the Robert Englund statement. If you remember...he was in the original series V.

This is GREAT! I loved that show. I like how Sci-Fi brought back Battlestar Galactica. Hopefully this will be just as good!

Wow, would love to see this... Maybe show us the original first. I loved it when it was on. Great story line for a 13yo...

I remember the coolest thing was the evil female leader deep throating a rat. We talked about that at school for a long time...

Kenneth Johnson's website shows that the novel is complete and going to be published in the fall. The min-series has not started production yet.

I liked both of the mini-series. I bought them both on VHS about 10 years ago.
As for the series, I remember that I watched some of the episodes when they originally aired but I didn't like it. I don't remember anything specific about it, though.

One of the problems with the TV series was that they dropped the cool voice effects for the Visitors. They just didn't sound as villainous without the rasp, so I hope we get better treatment in the new miniseries.

I'd forgotten about that, silly thing to change too since initially it was one of the few ways to tell them apart and made infiltrating them difficult.

Let's hope they're smarter than the first generation. They went to southern California to steal water and harvest edible bodies?

I'd forgotten about that, silly thing to change too since initially it was one of the few ways to tell them apart and made infiltrating them difficult. It was just a way to save money. Just like when they re-used old footage. That was the worst. Donovan has a chase scene in The Final Battle where he's on horseback and has to escape 2 ships that are trying to shoot him. Then in the series he meets someone at the park on horseback. Gee, I wonder what's going to happen next?

I wonder how much that voice really cost.
Though stargate does it nowadays (go-auld, or however, you spell it), but perhaps better technology makes it easier and cheaper?

Are you referring to a thread subscription? Or are you talking about the SP alerts forum subscription that tells you about updated threads? I'm not sure how you would be getting every single post in this thread without having a subscription to the thread.
