I was wondering if it would ever be possible to hack the resolution control file on a TV to make the Tivo record 640x480 MPEGS (closer to White Book Mpeg 2)

There is a hidden setting that tells the Tivo to record as 720x480 which happens to be a perfect fit for DVD :)
