View Full Version : Series 3 Says I Can't Connect Via HDMI

This particular unit (my third one) was installed on Saturday, with two cable cards from Time Warner. I connected it via HDMI to a Sony Grand Wega HD set, and it worked fine. This AM I got the above message, so switched to component video and analog audio.

I'm guessing that the Series 3 thinks that the television is not HDCP compliant (or perhaps is not a recognized licensee of HDMI), either of which would be wrong. Has anyone run into this? Cures?

Thanks,

Nick

After the 8.1.1 update I occasionally get those errors. I have my Series 3 connected via HDMI directly to a Sony SXRD (R60XBR1) HDTV. The solution is to force the connection to resync. You can do that by switching to another input on the Sony and then switching back or changing to a channel with a different resolution (assuming you don't have the S3 set to a fixed output).

Well, adding to the quirks that so many experience with HDMI, I have not been able to solve this one with the particular HDMI input on my Grand Wega. But . . .

I plugged the HDMI into the second HDMI input. No problem at all. I had previously tried using the component video output, and then switching back to HDMI. Component worked fine, but I could not get an HDMI handshake on input 7 of the Sony. Input 8, however . . . well, it worked.

While I'd like not to believe that there are differences between inputs on the same set (so long as they're both for the same type of connector), the TiVo Series 3 apparently thinks there are.
