I have a Series 2 TiVo (TCD140060) just given to me by a family member (lifetime subscription). It has a very consistent issue, and I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps (as seen in the forums), to no avail. A new Hard Drive also has not cured this issue, so it appears to be HW.
When the unit gets to the point where it wants to connect over the phone line, it starts at the "Preparing to Connect..." step (1st step), and a spinning disc icon appears to the left. It stays at this point for maybe a minute, then the unit restarts (back to the gray powering up screen). I can navigate the menus, change settings, etc, without a problem, but it always restarts when it gets to this point.
Could this be a modem issue? I don't know if it ever gets to the point of picking up the phone line or not, since "Connecting" is the next step on the screen. I bought a wireless G adapter (TiVo brand), but unfortunately can't use it b/c the unit is one version behind (7.2.0, adapter requires 7.2.1). It first needs to connect to TiVo over the phone line to do an update. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,
