I just got a used TiVo dual tuner TCD649080. It keeps rebooting after the "almost there" screen. I tried the kick start, but it still reboots. I was going to upgrade the drive anyways, but I need an image to start with.

Could I use one from my single tuner model? Any other tips that might figure out what is wrong with this unit? I made a serial cable, but I haven't seen any output on it other than some garbage just before it reboots.

Thanks.

Spend the $20 on Instantcake from dvrupgrade.com, it's easy and it works. :)

I saw that, and I may do it.

I'm in the middle of a "kickstart" zero at the moment. Still says "Don't Panic" at the top of my TV screen.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can resurrect this TiVo as it is.

HELP!!

I've had the "dreaded green screen of death" for the past couple of days...

I did a kickstart 0 and also am seeing the "Don't Panic" message on my screen. It says that it may take a few minutes, but it has already been a half an hour!!

Has anyone had any success with the kickstart 0?? And how long will this screen stay on????

I really, really need my TIVO back, WITH all the stuff I had stored!!! I dont want a new one!!! Any suggestions that I haven't already read about?? TIVO says that I need a replacement hard drive. I've only had the unit for 2 years... so I'm like, WTH??!!

I've already tried the kickstart 57, 56, 58, (at least, I think I've done all 3 of those!) and they did nothing whatsover... it just keeps cycling through the "Welcome... Powering Up" then "Almost There..." then back to the Green Screen. :::::sigh::::::

2 years for a hard drive in constant use isn't so bad. You might have luck copying everything in a PC to a new hard drive. Isn't that hard, and you can upgrade the capacity at the same time.

I ended up doing this with mine, and it has been fine since, and I now have a 160GB hard drive installed.

Well, the Don't Panic message didn't yield any positive results... nothing is working!!

I don't have any of the shows on my TIVO stored in my PC (I have no idea how to do that...), so I guess I'm out of luck where that's concerned. It really sucks that I have the WHOLE season of Nip/Tuck on the TIVO (and I haven't watched ANY of them!!) :( Kept meaning to transfer them to a videotape but of course, never got around to it...

Thanks anyway Quincy, for your input... ;)

One of the options when upgrading to a larger hard drive, is to copy everything, including shows. I think I might give this a go, but if you don't know how to use or install the TiVo desktop software, this might be beyond your capabilities.
