OK. I have the issue where the TIVO series 2 suddenly, after a couple months of flawless operation, sends all video, even live stream, to my DVD in copy protected mode. The DVD works fine when directly hooked into the cable.
TIVO shamelessly has no input on this issue, even though it appears to happen on a regular basis.
I reviewed some of the posts here. Swapping the output ports does not seem to help at all. Resetting the TIVO does not solve the problem, although I have not tried a complete wipe and resetting (ouch). The only other option I saw was to acquire a Video modifier to strip out the copy protection.
Anybody have any further input on this frustrating issue? Any help would be appreciated...

Your DVD recorder may not be able to recognize "copy never" flags incorporated into the video signal, whereas your TiVo can.
Either your cable provider is incorrectly adding the flags, or the particular channels you've been trying to record have been doing it.
It may be legal for the channel to do it, or not. Depends on what channel it is.
Have you spoken with TiVo Stephen or TiVo Jerry about this?
They've stepped in when the problem is the cable company.

Talk to your cable company and tell them to turn off the copy protection flag.

Well I do not think it is the cable provider, since the DVD records fine directly off the cable. Although I did contact the cable company and they do not admit to doing anything to the signal.

Corp...
Did you read my reply?
The DVD machine may not recognize the "copy never" signal, whereas the TiVo does.
The problem may still be the cable company putting out the flag when it shouldn't be there, or it might be the channel.
Is it that you can't record ANY channel at all to DVD thru the TiVo?

Aye it is any channel or any recording. Literally everything. So it must be something the Tivo is doing or it is the cable company.

TiVo isn't "doing" anything but making their machines compliant with the flags.
The cable company seems to be adding them to everything, which is illegal, at least for OTA channels, if not all channels that aren't "pay" channels.
I'm going to send you a couple links by PM.
Use one of them.
